Aquaticritters

What lives underwater? Discover aquatic and marine animals in this fun class.

  • Grades: 2-3
  • Cost: $125
  • Where: Aquarium
  • When: Monday - Friday, 8:30 a.m. - noon (morning session)
    • June 2-6 or 16-20
    • July 7-11

Have you ever looked at zooplankton under a microscope? Or measured up next to a shark? With hands-on activities and action-packed games, we’ll discover the jobs these animals do, how animals and plants depend on each other to survive, and why a healthy Rio Grande and healthy oceans are so important to all of us.

 

Eco-Explorers

Hippo

Check out the world wide web of life in this half-day Zoo camp.

  • Grades: 2-3
  • Cost: $125
  • Where: Zoo
  • When: Monday - Friday, 12:30 p.m. - 4 p.m. (afternoon session)
    • June 9-13 or 23-27
    • July 14-18

From the Arctic to the Amazon, you’ll explore amazing habitats to find out which animals call each place “home.” What’s the connection between orangutans and candy? How does hippo dung support an entire ecosystem? What’s so important about frogs? Join us for a global adventure to discover the answers to these questions and find out what you can do to help protect animals around the world.

 

It’s a Bug’s World!

Discover all that bugs do for us--pollinating food plants, decomposing waste and so much more!

  • Grades: 2-3
  • Cost: $125
  • Where: Botanic Garden
  • When: Monday - Friday, 12:30 p.m. - 4 p.m. (afternoon session)
    • June 2-6 or 16-20
    • July 7-11

Take a trip through the Botanic Garden through a bug’s eyes this summer to learn about the lifecycles of butterflies and dragonflies, find out which bugs like bright colors and which bugs like rotten odors, and explore the different kinds of environments bugs call home.  This new class is full of hands-on activities and games to help us understand the wild and weird world of bugs!

 

 

Discover the BioPark

Explore the entire BioPark and spend your week learning all about nature.

  • Grades: 2-3
  • Cost: $230
  • Where: Monday and Tuesday at the Aquarium/Garden; Wednesday - Friday at the Zoo
  • When: Monday - Friday, 8:30 a.m. - 4 p.m.
      • June 2-6, 9-13, 16-20 or 23-27
      • July 7-11, 14-18 or 21-25

      You’ll search for sharks at the Aquarium, smell “pizza plants” at the Garden, take a train ride to Tingley Beach and chill out by the polar bears at the Zoo. This all-day camp incorporates arts, crafts, games and time in the afternoon to relax and read.
