International Migratory Bird Celebration
Celebrate International Migratory Bird Celebration at the Botanic Garden with crafts and games. Education volunteers will teach about many of our bird species at discovery stations.
Find out how birds survive incredible migratory journeys over extraordinary distances between their southern breeding grounds and northern wintering grounds. Learn about bird conservation through hands-on discovery stations, crafts, displays and biofact demonstrations.
2016 is the 100th anniversary of the Migratory Bird Treaty! Celebrate with us!
- Stations for the young at heart, like kids bird walk, the dichotomous key game, and making bird masks.
- Adult-oriented stations on birding information, bird recovery success stories and information on feeding the ducks.
- The Central NM Audubon Society, Rio Grande Nature Center and the US Fish and Wildlife will be our guests for the day. They will be highlighting urban efforts to save the birds, great birding spots, and how the Migratory Bird Treaty is holding up.
In honor of the anniversary, USFWS started the hashtag #BirdYear on Flickr. Photos can be found here: https://www.flickr.com/groups/birdyear
