New BioPark outreach programs are coming soon! We're developing a fun, exciting and new educational program to meet your needs. Our new programming will offer opportunities to add to your field trip or classroom outreach experience with professional, staff-led activities. We will offer a variety of experiences to meet every budget.

Teacher Professional Development

Join the ABQ BioPark and NOAA’ s Office for Ocean Exploration and Research for “Exploring the Deep Ocean with NOAA,” a seven-hour professional development workshop. Participants will learn about the importance of ocean exploration and the advanced technological capabilities used to explore the deep ocean. The workshop will introduce standards-based, hands-on activities and online resources that guide classroom teaching and learning. Participation in this workshop is free for educators and includes breakfast, lunch, admission to the Aquarium and Botanic Gardens and a $75 stipend, but registration is required and space is limited. The January 2019 workshop is full but there will be another workshop in September 2019 and March 2020. These workshops are funded by the National Marine Sanctuary Foundation. The National Marine Sanctuary Foundation seeks to connect people to their ocean and Great Lakes, inspiring their stewardship and a lifelong devotion to their care and protection.

On Saturday March 16, 2019, from 9 a.m.-1 p.m., the U.S. Naval Academy and the ABQ BioPark will host a STEM Skillsets and Scenarios In Project Based Learning Professional Development Workshop. In this workshop presented by USNA trained New Mexico teachers, discover practical & engaging methodology for teaching science, technology, engineering & math through project based learning.
