Fabric, soil, rocks, skin, paper, plastics all have various levels of porosity. The ability to flow through or not, a little or a lot allows us to harness invisible forces of air, heat and light. We may not use the word ‘porosity' everyday, but every day we experience the phenomenon. A hot air balloon with high porosity will fly and a balloon with low porosity will not.

Presented by the Balloon Museum.

Suggested for grades 3 to 5.
