Dr. Fred Goldberg, will show unique photos – some of the first taken in the Arctic – as well as photographs from a series of early expeditions to Svalbard, Siberia, Greenland and the Antarctic. The talk details the development of photography from the daguerreotype to roll film.

Dr. Goldberg is chairman of the Swedish Chapter of the Explorers Club.  In 2010 he founded the Swedish Polar Institute which promotes polar expeditions, provides polar photographs for publishers of books and magazines, produces documentary films and organizes lectures. He is guest-curator of the philatelic exhibition “With the Eagle towards the North Pole,” which opens at the Balloon Museum March 19, 2016.
