Opens February 2019

Since completing his MFA degree at the University of New Mexico in 2008, Karl Hofmann has become well known in Albuquerque for his lyrical use of mundane materials like folding chairs, clip lamps, and strips of wood, deployed in futuristic, abstract installations that activate space in exciting ways.

Starting in February, Hofmann will transform the Museum’s expansive lobby walls and ceiling with what promises to be his most ambitious effort yet.

About: Summer Lobby Program

The summer lobby program began in 2011 and allows people to see artists at work and engage with them directly. It fosters new understanding and appreciation for the work. It’s helpful for the public to understand that making good art is hard work.
