Description
Taos artist and writer Walter Willard “Spud “Johnson published the literary journal Laughing Horse during the 1920’s and 30’s. The journal featured some of the most distinguished American writers at the time including Mary Austin and DH Lawrence and prints from Gustav Baumann, Howard Cook and others. Curator of Art, Josie Lopez will discuss the printmakers featured in the journal and explore the role it played in creating a center for creativity in New Mexico. The press that Johnson used to print Laughing Horse is included in the exhibition, A Past Rediscovered.
