Introduction to Homesteading - Free Introductory Class

Have you ever wanted to learn how to live sustainably off the land? Casa San Ysidro host its first ever class series on homesteading. The first class is free to the public and introduces the year's course schedule. Don't miss your chance to explore beginning aspects of homesteading and build self-sufficiently skills.

"Introduction to Homesteading" is a class based program that offers lectures and hands on activities that demonstrate the practices used in modern and traditional homesteading. Topics will include Corrales agricultural history and issues, water rights and the Acequia, basics of homesteading, and beginning sustainability. Learn practical techniques of seed saving, perennial starts, potting medium, and soils.

When the Spanish settled in New Mexico at the end of the 16th century, they brought technologies and domesticated plants and animals that were new to the environment. These introduced new political, socioeconomic, and ideological structures that significantly altered Puebloan diets, economic structures, and land use patterns.

"Introduction to Homesteading" is presented in partnership with Little Dirt Farms.
