In this eleven-week virtual class, students will learn basic drawing techniques while taking inspiration from the Museum’s extensive works on paper collections, which includes drawings from nationally-recognized artists like Peter Hurd, Elaine de Kooning, Frederick Hammersley, and Judy Chicago. No art background is necessary for this class, but more experienced art makers are welcome.  

Technology Requirements
This class will be run using the Zoom video conferencing platform. Once you register for the class, you will be sent a Zoom Meeting ID and Password so that you can join the class. If you are unsure how to use Zoom, download instructions here. Museum staff will hold a Zoom session before the first class for those who would like practice using this platform.

How to use Zoom

You must have a laptop, desktop computer, phone, or tablet that has a working web camera and microphone so that you can communicate and show your work to the instructor and other students. You must also have access to reliable high-speed internet in order to participate.

Supplies
A box of supplies will be prepared for each student before the first class; you can either have the box mailed to you or you may pick it up at the museum. It will be a basic kit to get you going. In addition to what we send, you are welcome and encouraged to use other materials that you already have or want to purchase.​
