Did you know that archaeology studies humans in the past from the objects and buildings they left behind? And Corrales has its own archaeological secrets! On the afternoon of April 8, much will be revealed. Between 1 and 4 pm, Casa will share the results of recent archaeological surveys and welcome the public to explore the science of ancient human life. Admission is free.

Drop in to:

  • Explore the archaeology of the Historic Heart of Corrales remains of its past residents.
  • Hear a talk by Emeritus Berkeley Professor Dr. Steven Shackley at 2 p.m. on his Southwest Archaeological Obsidian Project and "Changing Views of Southwest Prehistory."
  • Meet archaeological scientists at work in New Mexico and learn about the archaeological process.

Casa San Ysidro: the Gutiérrez/Minge House is a 19th and 20th Century adobe property with a remarkable collection of household, agricultural, and devotional objects and art. One of its builders, Dr. W. A. Minge, always insisted there were earlier remains on his property. The public is invited to tour our historic house, speak with our docents, and view our collection for free. Come help us celebrate the astonishingly rich depth of Corrales history and prehistory.
