Get to know Councilor Harris' new Policy Analyst and his vision for District 9 residents.
At the beginning of July, Lindsay Burkhard took over as Councilor Harris’ policy analyst here at the City of Albuquerque City Council. After graduating with honors from the University of New Mexico in December of 2013, this Albuquerque native hopes to put her degree in Communication to good use as she urges constituents to reach out.
A Few Words from Ms. Burkhard
"Albuquerque is home"
“Albuquerque is home to me. My parents were both born here. My siblings and I all grew up and went to school here. It is an honor to have the opportunity to work as a public servant for the City of Albuquerque. I could not be more pleased to be working with Councilor Harris."
"A Vision for District 9"
"Councilor Harris' vision for District 9:
- the revitalization of East Gateway,
- fostering economic development and growth in the area,
- supporting our community centers,
- building and renovating our parks, and most importantly,
- taking care of our people
are all things that I am thrilled to be able to have a hand in. It is true that we have a long road ahead of us. There is a lot of work to continue and new projects to start. Councilor Harris and I are ready to take on the challenges facing District 9 head on, and we ask for the support and engagement of the community."
"Moving forward, it is my hope to build a strong relationship with the constituents of District 9 and encourage them to reach out to us directly, attend neighborhood meeting and events and help us make a difference in District 9.”
Council Back from Recess in August
As Council meetings resume from recess on August 4th, Councilor Harris and Ms. Burkhard look forward to listening to the needs of the community and working towards improving District 9 and the City of Albuquerque.
