Councilor Trudy Jones is the Albuquerque City Councilor for District 8 in Northeast Albuquerque. She was elected to a four-year term in 2007, and re-elected to a second term in 2011.

Councilor Jones Remarks for the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Dedication

Since taking office Councilor Jones has remained committed to making the City a better place for its citizens, through fair and open government.

Councilor Jones has been a resident of District 8 since moving to Albuquerque and has been active in the community since the early 1980’s. She was a CCIM (Certified Commercial Investment Member) and received the prestigious Society of Industrial and Office Realtors (SIOR) designation. She was a leading Real Estate Advisor at Grubb & Ellis|New Mexico in 1999 and 2000 and qualified for the National Circle of Excellence for Grubb & Ellis in 2000. The Commercial Association of Realtors New Mexico (CARNM) also named Councilor Jones Realtor of the Year in 2000. Selection of Realtor of the Year is based on community involvement, volunteerism in real estate organizations, and significant impact in the real estate community.

Also in 2000 the New Mexico Chapter of the National Association of Industrial and Office Properties honored Councilor Jones as Real Estate Professional of the Year in recognition of her community volunteer work and achievements in commercial real estate. Councilor Jones was a member of several other real estate organizations, including National Association of Realtors (NAR), Realtors Association of New Mexico (RANM) and, Leasing Information Network (LIN), which she helped establish. She has served as President of CARNM, LIN, and the local CCIM chapter. Councilor Jones retired in December 2010 after a 30 year career as a Commercial Real Estate Broker and a Director at Maestas & Ward Commercial Real Estate.

Though Councilor Jones is devoted to community service, she also loves the outdoors and can most weekends be found at home gardening, packing for a camping trip, or doing volunteer work.

Policy Goals

Councilor Trudy Jones efforts emphasize public safety and quality governmental services. She has successfully worked to bring funding for the staffing of Dwyer Substation and helped honor New Mexicans who have fallen in Afghanistan and Iraq.
