Councilor Roxanna Meyers District 2 announced today a survey on the City's web site asking for your thoughts on the highest and best use of the Historic El Vado Motel. The motel has been in disarray for years and the city is preparing to go out to bid to renovate and possibly repurpose the property. "A fun, energetic El Vado City Market could be the perfect economic boost to this area near the BioPark and Old Town. Renovating this blighted property and giving life to the historic El Vado Motel is a win-win for the neighborhood, the business community and the entire city," Councilor Roxanna Meyers said.
Councilor Meyers would like to know if you would support the renovation of the motel as a City Market that would feature our unique New Mexico foods. Our City Market might be similar to Pike Place City Market in Seattle only instead of shopping for fish this market would feature our delicious New Mexico food that visitors could ship directly to their homes. For example, visitors and residents alike could purchase a tub of red or green chile, tamales, various salsas, chile-infused nuts, posole, enchiladas—the list is endless. A City Market could also provide great places to dine and maybe even a cooking school!
