Planning Efforts

Councilor Sanchez is committed to working with community members to hammer out plans that would improve District 1 for families and small businesses. Councilor Sanchez has dedicated his time to working with the community to identify problems, large and small. He has been instrumental in the drafting of plans to improve District 1.

His main achievement for the community is the recent adoption with Councilor Benton of the Southwest Albuquerque Strategic Action Plan into the Westside Strategic Action Plan.

	West Side Strategic Plan Ammendment This amendment adds a chapter for the Southwest Albuquerque Strategic Action Plan within the Westside area. This plan works to improve neighborhood service through community and neighborhood centers. It establishes policy for convenient public and pedestrian transit and encourages a recognizable identity for southwest Albuquerque.	Adopted March 24, 2009
	Rio Bravo Sector Development Plan The Rio Bravo Sector Development Amendment brings this Sector Plan into conformance with the Southwest Strategic Action Plan. New activity centers are added to the map and rezoning works to encourage future development of activity centers.	Completed
	Tower/Unser Sector Development Plan The Tower/Unser Sector Development Plan Amendment brings this Plan into conformance with the Southwest Strategic Action Plan. New zones for community centers and for Planned Development encourage more complete communities with residential and commercial areas.	Completed
	West Route 66 Sector Development Plan This amendment introduces rezoning for the area and brings the West Route-66 Plan into conformance with the Westside Strategic Plan. Center zoning and right-of-way changes help to encourage public transit, and pedestrian connections.	Completed
