Therapeutic Recreation (TR) Summer Program

Therapeutic Recreation programs are offered throughout the city for persons with and without disabilities, age 6 through high school. The program offers a variety of services that include art, leisure education, performing arts, gross motor activities, and games. The Loma Linda Community Center houses the administrative offices for the Therapeutic Recreation program. The program provides fully inclusive activities for youth and adults with and without disabilities. The dates and times of programs will vary with each program.

Therapeutic Recreation offers Summer Recreation Program every year to children in school from 6 years old through high school. Sites include Apache Elementary School (ages 6-12), Loma Linda Community Center (ages 6-12 and 13 & 14), Barelas Community Center (teen site), and Mark Twain Elementary School (ages 6-12). Summer Recreation Program is offered for six to eight weeks, from June to July.

2012 Therapeutic Recreation Program Dates

The 2012 program dates for Therapeutic Recreation will begin on June 11 and end on July 27.  The program at Mark Twain ends on July 20.

Registration
Registration is on a first come first serve basis. See chart below for registration locations, dates and times.  You may also register your child in the program at any time during regular program hours, provided there is space available.  Once a site registration is full, a waiting list will be kept and maintained.  Parents will be notified as space becomes available.  A completed registration form is required for all children that attend the program.  For safety reasons, if we do not have a registration form, the child will not be allowed to attend this program.

Program Hours

• Regular Summer Recreation program hours are from 9am to 3pm Monday through Friday.
• Extended Summer Recreation program hours for Mark Twain and Apache Elementary are from 7am to 9am and  3pm to 6pm Monday through Friday.
• Extended Summer Recreation program hours for Barelas and Loma Linda Community Center's are from 7:30am to 9am and 3pm to 5:30pm.

Program Fees

There is no charge to attend this program during regular hours from 9:00am to 3:00pm Monday to Friday.  However, there is a fee of $25.00 required for each participant to cover the cost of field trips, special events and swimming.  There is also a charge for the extended summer recreation program.
