2009 PLAYGROUND RECREATION PROGRAM

Due to the high participant demand for the City of Albuquerque’s Playground Summer Recreation Program, the Department of Family & Community Services has implemented a “lottery-style” selection of participants.

Lottery Forms will only be accepted on Monday, June 1, 2009 from 7:00 am to 6:00 pm at each Playground site. Enter the lottery at the Playground site you wish your child(ren) to attend the summer program.  There is no charge to enter the lottery.

Drawings will take place at each Playground site on Tuesday, June 2, 2009 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon based on the limit of 150 participants per site. Parents may attend, but do not have to be present.  Names selected will be posted at the site after drawing is complete. We will place remaining participants on a waiting list.

Registration: Those selected must register their child(ren) for the summer program on Wednesday, June 3, 2009 from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm. at the site where they entered the drawing. If the selected applicants do not register their child(ren), their slot(s) will be given to the next person(s) on the waiting list.  There is a $10 registration fee per child at the time of registration.

 

 

PROGRAM DATES:
June 8, 2009 to July 30, 2009 with all Playground sites except Duranes Elementary School; their summer program will be from June 10, 2009 to July 29, 2009.

The program provides planned, organized and supervised activities designed to meet the recreational needs of children 6 through 11 years of age. The program is also geared to enhance the participants existing recreational skills while introducing and encouraging interest in new areas of recreation. These programs are held at various elementary schools throughout the Albuquerque area. For more information, call 505-767-5885 from 8 am – 5 pm, Monday through Friday.

Program Hours:

          Regular hours: 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., Monday through Friday

          Extended hours: 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Monday through Friday

 

    • Income eligible information does not apply during the summer.
    • Registration fee must be paid at time of registration.
    • Program fees for the entire summer can be paid in advance at the time of registration.  Fees which are not paid in advance must be paid on a weekly basis, preferably by check or money order.
    • If the weekly fee is not paid by the end of the week, your child will be discharged from the program.
    • If your child is dropped off before 9 a.m. or picked up after 3:00 p.m., and is not registered for the extended program, you will be charged the extended fee for the week.
    • If a child is left in our care after 6:00 p.m. (closing time), the parents and/or legal guardians will be charged a $15.00 late fee for each 30 minutes after 6:00 p.m.  The late charge must be paid at the time the child is being picked up from the program.
    • If your child is not picked up from the program by 7 p.m. and a parent, legal guardian or anyone else on the registration form cannot be reached, we will contact the Albuquerque Police Department and they will transport the child to All Faith’s Home.
