Boat and Bicycle Rental

Pedal boats, model boats and bicycles are available to rent from Tingley Beach concessions seasonally. These amenities will start operating on Saturday, May 23, and remain open through September 7 (closed September - May).

Pedal Boats

Paddle boat on Tingley Central Pond

 

Two-seater and four-seater pedal boats are available for use on the Central Pond. Fish from the center of the lake, or just enjoy a breezy cruise. There may be long waiting lists on the weekends/holidays.

 

Notice to the Public
The City's Great Race down the Rio Grande has been rescheduled for Saturday, June 6. Pedal boat rentals at Tingley Beach will be closed during the morning and open from 12:00 noon to 7:00pm.

 

 

Hours: Open Saturday, May 23 through Monday, September 7, 2009.

              • Monday-Thursday - 10:00am-5:00pm
               
              • Friday-Sunday - 10:00am-7:00pm
               

 

Where to rent: Pay at the Tingley Cafe and take your receipt to the umbrella by the dock outside.

 

Cost:

  • Two-seat boat: $8.00 per half hour; $12.00 per hour
  • Four-seat boat: $10.00 per half-hour; $14.00 per hour

You will need to leave a credit card as collateral.

 

Requirements for pedal boat riders:

  • Children must be ages 3 and older, and be able to sit in their own seat.
  • Please, no fishing on the boats
  • No drinks or food allowed while out on the boat (water bottles okay)
  • Anyone riding on the pedal boat must be in good health, free of any medical problems.

 

 

Bicycles

Twelve mountain bikes, in both adult and children's sizes, are available. A portion of the 16-mile long paved Paseo del Bosque bike is accessible from Tingley Beach and runs through the beautiful

Rio Grande Valley State Park.

 

Hours: Open Saturday, May 23 through Monday, September 7, 2009.

  • Monday-Thursday - 10:00am-5:00pm
  • Friday-Sunday - 10:00am-7:00pm
 

Where to rent: Pay at the Tingley Cafe and take your receipt to the umbrella by the dock outside.

Cost: $8.00 per hour; $20.00 for 4 hours.

Model Boats

Tingley model yachts

Try your hand at controlling a model yacht in a special section of the Central Pond. Each of the six stations accepts tokens, available inside Tingley Beach Station.

Hours: Not available at this time.

Where to rent: At the token machine inside the building, which takes cash or credit cards.

Cost: Each token costs 25 cents. A minimum of 2 tokens are required for one play, which is two minutes long.
