Spend Quality Time at Kids' Fishing Fair
Free Event February 25 at Tingley Beach
Looking for a fun family activity this weekend? Look no further than Kids' Fishing Fair at Tingley Beach, Saturday February 25, from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. Children ages 4 - 12 are invited to learn all about fishing by visiting fun and interactive discovery stations. No registration is required, so bring the kids and cast your line.
Learn to tie a fishing fly, cast a fly rod and discover environmentally friendly ways to fish. See and touch Biofacts like bones and porcupine quills, meet some local animals and scout the pond for waterfowl. Understand the Bosque ecosystem, explore the inside of a fish and make your own fishy arts and crafts. Afterwards, take your little ones to the Children's Pond and help them catch fish using their newfound knowledge.
"Children love to learn by watching or performing actions," said Kathryn Venzor, BioPark Education Curator. "By providing interactive Discovery Stations and teaching children to fish, we hope children will create fond memories and retain skills they can use later in life."
Kids' Fishing Fair is a free BioPark event. In accordance with New Mexico fishing laws, anyone over 12 years of age must have with them a current New Mexico fishing license while fishing at Tingley Beach.
