Shops, Restaurants and Other Services

All shops and restaurants at the Rio Grande Botanic Garden can be accessed off the main plaza without paying admission fees. Other services include stroller rental, bicycle racks, wheelchairs, wireless Internet access, and a lost and found.

Shops

Garden Shop exterior entranceThe Garden Gift Shop carries film, gifts, garden tools and souvenirs. No personal food or lunches may be brought into the buildings. Services offered include:

School groups may order gift grab bags to be picked up when they visit the garden.

Groups renting the garden may request the gift shop stay open during their event.

Hours: 10:30 am to 5pm daily. Extended hours on Saturdays and Sundays during the summer to 6pm.

Restaurants

Shark Reef cafeThe Shark Reef Cafe is a full service restaurant open from 9:00am to 5:00pm, serving both breakfast and lunch. The menu includes breakfast burritos, pancakes, salads, burgers and sandwiches.

 

Free wireless access to the Internet (SSID: aqua) is available in the Shark Reef Cafe, on the Aquarium/Garden plaza and on the Garden's lawn (Festival Green).

 

Hours: Daily, from 9am to 5pm. Extended hours on Saturdays and Sundays during the summer to 6pm.

Wildflower Snack BarThe Wildflower Snack Bar, located on the Main Plaza, sells snack food, drinks and ice cream.

 

Hours: 10am - 3pm daily.

Wagons and Strollers

Carry-all wagons and two-seater strollers are available at "Visitor Services" near the entrance of the Main Plaza on your right as you enter. Wagons are $5, two-seater wagons are $7.

Pets

Pets are not permitted on ground. A limited number of kennels are available are available at "Visitor Services" near the entrance of the Main Plaza on your right as you enter.

Service Animals

Service animals are permitted in all visitor areas at BioPark facilities.

Wheelchairs

The BioPark has a very limited number of wheelchairs for visitors' use on a first-come, first-served. You will be asked to leave your drivers' license. To ensure your comfort while visiting, we strongly recommend that you bring your own wheelchair. Wheelchairs are available in the Shark Reef Cafe.

It may be possible to reserve a wheelchair by calling in advance, preferably three days before your visit. Please call (505)764-6206 for a Zoo visit or (505)848-7123 for an Aquarium/Garden visit. You can also email us at biopark@cabq.gov and let us know which facility you will be visiting. Reservations are not guaranteed until you receive a confirmation call or email.

If you have a disability and require special assistance when you visit, please call 311 or (505) 768-2000 ( Relay NM or 711), preferably three days before your visit .

Wireless Internet Access

The City of Albuquerque provides free wireless access to the Internet at the Aquarium and Botanic Garden. Reception is best in the Shark Reef Cafe, on the Main Plaza, and on the garden's Festival Green. To use this service, you need a functioning device — such as a laptop computer, PDA, Pocket PC, etc. that has a properly configured wireless network adapter. Our SSID is aqua.

Lost and Found
Inquire at the Security Office next to Administration for items that are lost and found.

Parking is ample and free.
