NEW SPECIAL EXHIBITIONS:

Luxembourg By Hot Air Balloon: A Photographic Exposé of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg

December 18, 2011 - May 28, 2012.

Luxembourg By Hot Air Balloon features 32 magnificent Luxembourg landscapes photographed from the basket of a hot air balloon. Luxembourg photographer and noted author Rob Kieffer and his balloon team floated over the most fascinating scenery and settings of the Grand Duchy: The Osling region of the Ardennes, the Gutland and Luxembourg City in the center of the country, the Minette area in the south and the Moselle valley in the east. The result of Kieffer's photographic journey was Luxembourg By Hot Air Balloon, published by Editions Guy Binsfeld. The exhibition draws from the book and is owned by Luxembourg's Ministry of Foreign Affairs. It has been exhibited in New York, Prague, Bangkok, Brussels, Amsterdam, Lisbon, Bratislava and Vienna. The exhibition is made possible by Luxembourg's Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Embassy of Luxembourg, Washington, DC.

FAI Ballooning Commission International Hall of Fame

Newly relocated to the Balloon Museum, the Hall of Fame features some 40 existing inductees and recognizes people who have made significant contributions to aerostation.  The Balloon Museum celebrated the opening and induction of Ron Clark, a member of the crew to make the first balloon crossing of the Pacific Ocean; Larry Newman, a co-inventor of the ultra-light airplane and co-captain on the first manned balloon crossing of the Pacific Ocean; Rocky Aoki, a restaurateur and a record-setting balloonist in crossing the Pacific Ocean in a helium balloon; and Olivier Roux Devillas, the founder of the French Aeronautical Federation and  competitive balloonist. Past inductees with a New Mexico connection include Sid Cutter, the Balloon Fiesta co-founder, and Maxie Anderson and Ben Abruzzo, two of the three balloonists of the first trans-Atlantic balloon flight.
