ABQ IIA June 2010 Chapter meeting
Flowcharting 2.0, Leveraging Excel Tools for Audit Planning and Control Review - Process maps are graphic representations of work activities. By using commonly understood symbols, activities can be broken down into discrete steps to show how inputs are converted to outputs. The maps show how activities are designed, or intended, to work. Since they use symbols and limited text, their simplicity can promote discussion and understanding at a conceptual level. Process maps can be vehicles to help streamline work activities, reduce cycle time, avoid rework, eliminate some inspections, refine quality control steps, and prevent errors.
Participants will learn how to use M/S Excel to map processes. They will learn some common content & style errors and see a checklist to ensure the completeness of their maps. For those more familiar with process mapping, over 20 BOLO’s will be offered to review findings with clients or customers.
