Election Information
A citizens' group circulated petitions in the fall of 2012 proposing an amendment to the City Charter. Specifically, the amendment would change the requirement that city officials, meaning the Mayor and City Councilors, win election by 50% of the vote instead of the current 40% of the vote.
The citizens' group was successful in collecting signatures and the City Charter requires an election be held within 90 days from the final date the petitions were provided to the City Clerk. In this instance, the City is required to hold a special election on or before March 11, 2013.
