Albuquerque Ranks #4 in Country for Alt Fuel Usage
Albuquerque ranks #4 in the nation for alternative fuel use in city operations, according to SustainLane Government, an online knowledge base for state and local governments.
SustainLane surveyed the 50 largest cities in the nation to compile the list of cities that are taking advantage of biodiesel, hydrogen, ethanol, compressed and natural gas.
Albuquerque scored well due its diverse fleet of alternative use vehicles including:
- Compressed natural gas (CNG) in City buses and airport rental shuttles
- Biodiesel in trash trucks, fire trucks, and street sweepers
- Ethanol in light-duty City vehicles
“By establishing specific goals for adopting alternative fuels, these progressive cities are increasing the sustainability of our environment and setting a positive example for other communities. Besides the obvious environmental benefits, they are reaping economic rewards by embracing alternatives to fossil fuels.”
