Chubby Checker

Performers

National Headliner - Chubby Checker

In 2 minutes & 42 Seconds, Chubby Checker revolutionized popular culture and changed the music business forever. When he appeared on American Bandstand in 1960 and performed "The Twist," it was the dawn of a new era in Rock and Roll.

Dancing Apart to the Beat was born and teenagers found a new way to express themselves. Chubby's Dance Style has extended from Woodstock, through disco to the present day. He stands alone as a one of a kind rock icon, who has had 36 hit records, is the only artist to have a single go to #1 Twice, and according to Billboard, has the #1 Single for the whole decade of the '60s.

Chubby was awarded the first Platinum Single, the first Rock Grammy and has sold an astounding 250,000,000 records over the years. That's why Dick Clark has said: "The three most important things that ever happened in the Music Industry are Elvis Presley, The Beatles, and Chubby Checker."

The People

The People consists of band members from all corners of the country who now call Albuquerque home. Their album, "Simply The People", is a variety album crafted with the purpose of showcasing the musical range and flexibility of the band's talents. With classic rock in mind they were able to capture a pure, warm, and raw sound similar to what you would hear in an early Zeppelin record for some tracks. Other titles on the album sound a lot more like contemporary Pop with the overall structure and feeling of Alternative Rock such as the Arctic Monkeys and artists of the like. The album "Simply The People" was recorded at a secret location using mostly analog equipment for the tracking and mixing.

The tracks written by Jamie Conatser such as, Curses, Songbird, and Quarter, reminisce a southern rock era with rockabilly-esque chord progressions and guitar riffs. Tracks Written by Edgar Hernandez like Water, Long To See You, Gold and Light, and Clouds reflect a more melancholy thought process with minor scales and haunting melodies. The lyrics for Pushing Up a Stream were penned by drummer Nathan Ormsby. The song speaks about the turmoils of growing up in this generation as a broke 20-something who, despite the financial and romantic issues, is still able to find pleasure in the little details of life. Overall, "Simply The People" is an innovative milestone of the kind you haven't heard in many decades.

The Real Matt Jones

The Real Matt Jones is an alt-country/new-country band from Albuquerque, New Mexico has more than likely touched some corner of the musical world. The four members in the band have collectively appeared on over 1,000 recording projects. Easily one of the most palatable bands you will hear this year, The Real Matt Jones has played shows all over the world, won awards for musicality and songwriting, and has shared the stage with multiple international acts including Colin Hay of Men at Work, Sister Hazel and Rod Stewart.

The latest release, "One Day" (2017), shows that melody is not dead, storytelling is not just for Merle Haggard and guitar solos are not just for NFL bumper music. From the ganjo-heavy opening track, The Way is Should Be, to the Springsteen-esque riff of closing Shot at Greatness, here is a record that marks the best pars of summers past and those yet to come. Look for them in a Southwestern U.S. venue near you and raise a glass to this 'Burque band!
