ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – Beginning Wednesday, November 2nd, United and Continental Airlines will operate out of gates 1, 2 and 3 on the “A” concourse and utilize one bag claim, Bag Claim 8, located at the far west end of Sunport terminal.
The move is the second phase in the merger of the two airlines, which will operate as United Airlines beginning early next year. In September, the airlines consolidated their ticket counters, streamlining the check-in procedure for travelers holding tickets on either airline.
“Our goal is to ensure a seamless transition and a positive experience for our customers,” United Station Manager, Steve Tanzella, said. “As we finalize the merger, travelers will see changes in our location and operation, but can expect a level of service that incorporates the best of both airlines.”
Once the merger is complete in early 2012, Albuquerque will not see a reduction in flights or destinations. United will continue to offer non-stop service to Chicago (O’Hare), Denver, Houston, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Washington (Dulles).
