In June 2011, the City of Albuquerque filed an update to its competition plan with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). The update was required by federal legislation due to the execution of a new agreement between the City and most airlines serving the Albuquerque International Sunport effective July 1, 2011 through June 30, 2016. The plan summarizes the City’s programs, policies, and initiatives evidencing the City’s continuing commitment to enabling opportunities for airlines to provide competitive service and airfares to and from the Sunport.

Attachment A of the update summarizes changes in the new airline agreement versus the prior airline agreement (effective July 1, 2006 through June 30, 2011), City leasing policies and procedures, airline leasing arrangements, and capital program funding sources and requirements. Attachment B of the update summarizes trends in air service, airfares, and airline competition since 2000. Attachment C contains a sample airline agreement. The FAA response to this plan will be posted at this location upon receipt. Requests for further information concerning this competition plan can be sent to Jack Scherer, Competitive Access Liaison, at sunportinfo@cabq.gov.
